Gibson Hummingbird True Vintage Acoustic Guitar

Gibson first manufactured the square shouldered Hummingbird in 1960. Next to the J-200 it was Gibson's top of the line acoustic guitar. The Gibson Hummingbird is a visually stunning instrument which makes it a great addition to a stage performers guitarsenal. I made that word up. Sometimes made up words fit better than ready made). This is why you  see artists of various musical styles such as  Jimmy Page, Marc Bolan, Keith Richards, Gram Parsons, John
McLaughlin, Sheryl Crow,  and many others using the Hummingbird. First Lady Michelle Obama gave a Gibson Hummingbird to the First Lady of France, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.

The Gibson Hummingbird has undergone design continued evolution since it's inception. Besides the Mahogany that is normally used for the back and sides, maple and koa have been substituted as well. The color has gone from the original Cherry Sunburst to the dark Tobacco Sunburst, to a natural finish, to the current Vintage Heritage Cherry Sunburst on the True Vintage edition. The sound is balanced across the scale making it a great instrument to accompany the voice. The word "velvet" is the term that comes up when discussing the sound. It responds to a wide range of technique from mild to agressive.

The nitrocellulose finish on the Gibson True Vintage Hummingbird is the result of a time consuming process during which 9 coats are applied. The tone wood can breathe and age naturally through an ultra thin layer of nitro. The nitrocellulose finish protects the Heritage Cherry Sunburst the premium Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. The round Mahogany neck supports the Madagascar Rosewood neck and 25-1/2 scale. The 1-5/8 nut width will catch the attention of the fingerstyle guitarist.
Couple that with the balanced velvety tone and this guitar is an excellent choice for the fingerstyle performer.
